New changes have come into place affecting casual employment. It is now a requirement for employers (other than small business employers) to make an offer to any casual staff member who has been employed by the business for at least 12 ,months and work a regular pattern of hours.
This does not apply to small businesses (fewer than 15 employees). But casual employees of small businesses can still request a conversion to permanent employment.
